She began acting in television in the mid 1990s, and was later seen in numerous films including The Woods, Blue Car Murder by Numbers Blood and Chocolate and The Anna Nicole Story. Bruckner's career started at age eleven. Bruckner appeared in several commercials, TV pilots and a soap opera The Bold and the Beautiful during the daytime in 1999. Bruckner played her first part at the age 15 as Blue Car Blue Car (2002). Bruckner played a girl in high school involved in an affair between her teacher, played by David Strathairn. Roger Ebert, a film critic, said Bruckner nailed this challenging script completely with conviction. Bruckner was nominated for an Independent Spirit Award for "Best female role in a film" for her performance in the film. She was raised with her three siblings, having a brother and two sisters. Her mother tongue was Hungarian as she often learned the language in order to be fluent. Bruckner was born in Hollywood California to a Hungarian father and an Russian mother who have since divorced her paternal grandfather was German. Her parents are Hungarian parents who met in Hungary. The family moved to the U.S.A. via Italian refugee camp in 1984. The siblings of her are two sisters and one brother.
